Niger Republic Prohibits Nigerian Flights
The Niger Republic military government has reiterated its prohibition on flights from Nigeria, stating that no aircraft from Nigeria will be permitted to land in the country.
The country’s airspace management body issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) dated February 6, 2024, stating that commercial aircraft crossing Nigerien airspace without making a landing are exempt from the prohibition.
The notice also stated that the airspace of the Republic of Niger is open to all national and international commercial flights except for Nigerian flights to or from Nigeria.
However, the Niger Republic airspace remains closed for military, operational, and special flights, subject to prior authorization from competent authorities.
