Kano State Holds Mass Wedding for 1,800 Couples
In Kano State, Nigeria, the local authorities recently held a mass wedding for hundreds of couples as part of a government-sponsored initiative.
The primary goal of this ceremony, which occurred on October 13, was to assist the underprivileged individuals in the community.
The initiative included various forms of support such as covering the dowry expenses, purchasing furniture, providing trousseaus, and offering a start-up capital of 26 dollars.
Additionally, the authorities arranged a professional training session to empower the brides and help them become self-reliant, thereby alleviating financial burdens on their husbands.
To ensure accessibility, the wedding was decentralized and took place across different local governments. The total cost of this event to the state amounted to 1 million dollars.
