Kenyan Doctors Strike for Better Pay and Working Conditions, Leaving Patients in Distress
Hundreds of Kenyan doctors and medical practitioners have protested in a nationwide strike demanding better pay and working conditions.
The strike has entered its fifth week, with Florence, a cancer patient, being left unattended at a referral hospital. The doctors carried placards and chanted against the Kenyan government, claiming it failed to implement promises, including a collective bargaining agreement signed in 2017.
They are refusing to bow to intimidation and threats and are continuing picketing to maintain their constitutional rights. The strike has left many patients without access to essential medical services, exacerbating their conditions and causing distress
