Tragedy Strikes Mount Everest: Kenyan Climber Dies, Sherpa Missing
A Kenyan climber, Joshua Cheruiyot Kirui, and his guide Nawang have tragically lost their lives on Mount Everest, bringing the total death toll to three.
They had been missing above the Hillary Step since Wednesday morning. Kirui’s body was found late on Wednesday approximately 19 meters below the peak, while Nawang is still unaccounted for.
Last week, two Mongolian climbers also lost their lives while descending from the summit. Additionally, a British man and a Sherpa have been missing since Tuesday after a fall near the South Summit. Since 1953, over 7,000 climbers have reached the peak, but with more than 335 reported fatalities.
