Meet Harriet Tubman The Renowned Abolitionist

Why is the story of Harriet Tubman profound? Exactly 91 years after her passing, the renowned Abolitionist, Harriet Tubman – who became the first woman to lead an American military operation during wartime was posthumously awarded the rank of a US General on Monday 11th of November 2024.
In the words of OMOTADE Isaac Adekunle, “For all lovers of progress, we must also be in love with difficult struggle.” The story of Harriet Tubman is a perfect example. Harriet Tubman was enslaved, but among many of the enslaved people in America, the story of Harriet Tubman broke out after she escaped. Tubman was one of the few slaves that escaped and was never caught. Why did she stand out?
Tubman did not only free herself, after she escaped, months after, Tubman came to free over 70 enslaved people including her families. She came back 13 times to free people & help them escape from the slave plantation. None of those she Freed were ever recorded to be caught.
How was Tubman able to do this? Tubman wasn’t just a conductor of the Underground Railroad; she was a fearless leader and military strategist. When asked years after slavery was abolished, she said in quote; she passed through the most difficult paths, where no normal humans will ever want to pass. She passed through forests full of thorns, Rivers with crocs. After all these, she still went further to lead in the US Army. Today she’s posthumously honoured a General in the US Army
