Nigeria Launches Manhunt for Fleeing Binance Executive, Seeks INTERPOL’s International Arrest Warrant for Suspect
Nigerian National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu confirmed the escape of Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla from custody. Anjarwalla, 38, escaped from custody while being taken to a mosque for prayers during the Ramadan fast.
The NSA Office took urgent action to apprehend the suspect, working with security agencies, MDAs, and the international community. Security services are working with Interpol to obtain an international arrest warrant for the suspect. The Federal Government of Nigeria is investigating money laundering and terrorism financing transactions on the Binance currency exchange platform.
Anjarwalla, who holds British and Kenyan nationalities, was being tried by Nigerian courts before his escape. He was scheduled to appear before the court again on 4 April 2024. The NSA Office urges the Nigerian public and the international community to provide information to assist law enforcement agencies in apprehending the suspect.
Anjarwalla and his colleague Tigran Gambaryan were detained in Nigeria after appearing in court last week, despite not being charged with a crime.
