Nigeria Needs a MohBad Law Against Intimidation – Seun Kuti

Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Nigerian music legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has called for legislation to combat the issue of cultism in the country. His call comes after the death of popular singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

Mohbad‘s demise has sparked speculations of cult-like activities in the entertainment industry. In a post on his Instagram page, Seun Kuti expressed his belief that Mohbad‘s death was linked to cultism, which he described as a serious problem that has pervaded Nigerian society. He added that the menace of cultism has become a scourge for the younger generation and needs to be urgently addressed.

The musician went on to state that cultism has deeply infected the Nigerian system, with even law enforcement agents and supposedly law-abiding citizens being involved in cult activities. He shared his personal experience while in detention, where he was approached by police officers who revealed their cult affiliations to him, believing that he was also a member.

Seun Kuti stressed the need for the government to take decisive action by enacting strict laws against cultism and intimidation by cultists. He argued that if this issue is not tackled effectively, it will continue to harm future generations. He called on the National Assembly to pass a law, which he suggested should be called the “MOHBAD Law,” to address this pressing issue.

In conclusion, Seun Kuti highlighted the need for the country to confront the reality of the prevalence of cultism and take concrete steps to combat it. He emphasised that without proper legislation and enforcement, the problem of cultism will continue to plague society, putting the lives of young people at risk.
