FG Appeals to Labour to Suspend the Two-day Warning Strike

The Federal Government has appealed to the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress to call off its scheduled two-day warning strike on Tuesday.

Simon Lalong, Minister of Labour and Employment, made the appeal on Monday, citing the reversal of achievements gained by the Federal Government (FG) and promising to address the NLC’s concerns holistically if given time to settle into office.

Lalong emphasised that the government’s cabinet had just been sworn in and that all cabinet members had received briefings from their respective MDAs.

He reassured Nigerian workers that the government would never take them for granted and would continue to push for measures targeted at creating jobs across the board. The government will meet with labour representatives by 3 p.m. on Monday to discuss ending the planned walkout.
