World Record: Ugandan Church Sets New Clapping Record

Uganda’s Phaneroo Ministries church has set a Guinness World Record for the longest round of applause, with 926 people clapping nonstop for 3 hours and 16 minutes at an average of 88.5 decibels.

The event, held in Kampala, Uganda, commemorated the institution’s ninth birthday. The church’s pastor, Grace Lubega, emphasised the event’s purpose of uniting people in a spirit of celebration and appreciation.

The event was livestreamed for a larger audience, and observers from Uganda’s standards office and the national basketball regulating body monitored the event’s legality. The Ugandan church beat the previous record of two hours and five minutes held by Clark Stevens and the Festival of Awesomeness in the UK in 2019.
