Tinubu Approves N35,000 Pay Award for State Servants
To lessen the effects of eliminating gasoline subsidies, President Bola Tinubu has authorised a N35,000 pay reward for government employees.
Ekpo U. O. Nta, chairman and CEO of the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, announced the approval in a memo.
Beginning on September 1, 2023, the wage award will be applicable to all Federal Civil Servants.
The memo was sent to a number of people, including the President, Ministers, and the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff.
Following a Memorandum of Understanding between the Nigerian Federal Government and the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, the clearance was granted.
After the Tinubu-led administration provided N5 billion to 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for palliatives, the strike was put on hold for one month.
