Libya Sends 600 Egyptian Migrants Back Home

600 Egyptian nationals who are in Libya illegally are waiting for a pass to exit the country outside the Directorate of Combatting Illegal Migration (DCIM).

Because of a recent agreement between Libya’s two administrations, deportations are now handled by the DCIM, which is connected to the interior ministry of the western government.

Buses carrying the migrants—most of whom were men—left to travel 1,375 kilometres to the Egyptian crossing point at Esmaed.

Tens of thousands of migrants use Libya as a hub each year to attempt their journey by sea to Europe.

Unverified video was shown by Libyan media in June, depicting around a thousand Egyptians under military escort and compelled to cross the border into Egypt on foot.
