Kenyan Ballet Prodigies Delight Community with Christmas Show

In Kibera, Kenya’s Nairobi, over 100 local ballet students prepare for the annual Christmas performance in Kibera.

The event, run by Project Elimu, a community-driven nonprofit, offers after-school arts education and a safe space for children in Kibera.

Meanwhile, the ballet project, run by Brenda Branice, a 15-year-old girl, has been practicing daily after school. The event has been a source of joy for the residents, who have been eager to participate in something meaningful.

The project aims to trigger resilience, creativity, and calmness in the children, with founder Michael Wamaya aiming to use dance for their emotional well-being. The event has attracted hundreds of residents, young and old, to the area.
