Sowore Blames Akeredolu’s Wife & Associates For His Death

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections, has blamed the death of Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on his wife, son, and political associates.

Akeredolu died at the age of 67 after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer. Sowore claimed that the late governor was given until May 2023 to live in Germany, but managed to live beyond that time.

He suggested that Akeredolu would have lived longer if his wife, son, and political associates had not brought him back to Nigeria to use his presence to impeach his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Sowore championed a protest demanding Akeredolu’s resignation or resumption of his duties in his office to prove his fitness. He stated that there was no basis for bringing Akeredolu from Germany to Nigeria for politics, which might have hastened his demise.

Sowore also noted that Akeredolu’s family kept him on a live support machine and that if it were in a serious country, there would be an investigation due to allegations of forgery. If it happens in the US, family members could face attempted murder charges.
