Who Is Marcus Mosiah Garvey

Marcus Mosiah Garvey is a Jamaican nationalist hero, Pan-Africanist, and the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). A movement formed in Jamaica in July 1914, with the goal of achieving Black nationalism through the celebration of African history and culture.
Marcus Garvey built one of the first Black Doll factories in the world, where black dolls were made for black kids to play with. Marcus Garvey also started his political party, and he named it The Peoples Political Party.

Marcus Garvey was for the future of Africans, pushing for an independent state for all Blacks across the globe. He does not believe in the integrationist agenda, he believes in separation and having financial freedom for all Blacks, hence he used all his resources to establish different companies and institution accessible for all Blacks.
Marcus Garvey, born August 17, 1887, died June 10, 1940, was a Jamaican-born nationalist and leader of the Pan-Africanism movement, which goal is to unify and connect people of African descent worldwide.
LISTED BELOW ARE SOME OF MARCUS GARVEY’S ESTABLISHMENT FOR AFRICANS
1. He built a hotel.
2. He built a chain of grocery stores.
3. His organization had their own trucking company.
4. He built schools.
5. He built restaurants.
6. His organization had their own printing press.
7. He started a  Newspaper company.
His newspaper was called the Negro World, and that newspaper was published in Spanish and French.
8. His organization bought 5 ships and they started practicing international trade and commerce.
Marcus Garvey’s organization owned office buildings.
They also bought an auditorium in New York, and that’s where he mainly spoke and this place was called Liberty Hall.
By 1922 Marcus Garvey organization had 6 million members.
They had branches in 40 countries.
Shortly after Marcus was released from prison, he moved to the united kingdom where he later died of  stroke. His body was exhumed few years after the world war and relocated to Jamaica where he was born.
