Nature versus Technology
As the world focuses on technology advancement with billions in investment, are we neglecting humanity? The huge investment in AI technology and robotics is indeed for whose benefit?
Sometimes, in 2024, a humanoid AI robot called Sophia said it will destroy humans. Although many took this as a joke at the time.
Prof Geoffrey Hinton, who is considered to be the godfather of AI, once said: There is a likely chance that AI would lead to human extinction within the next three decades.
A renowned physicist, Stephen Hawkins, also said that, while the primitive forms of Artificial Intelligence had proven very useful, he feared the consequences of creating something that can match or surpass humans.
Again, my question is: Why then are humans investing so much in creating something that will surpass humans and even cause human extinction?
This level of advanced AI technology is great, but what is the end goal? Is it to support humans or to replace humans? Is it to complement nature or to replace nature?
My fear is, in the nearest future, as we advance in Tech and the active use of it, the human brain will not be active anymore in engagement and logical reasoning. The human adaptivity and cognitive will be almost rendered inactive, and humans will no longer be able to advance or take decisions without the help of Artifical Intelligence. With the emergence of humanoids, the relevance of humans will be put to question both in homes, family, and professional spaces.
As amazing as AI Robotic is, let’s not be carried away to think this is the future. The creation of humanoids is not the future. It is only a concept for the future. Humanity remains the future.
As I’m writing this, AI is already prompting me to assist me in rewriting this. How natural will I be? How perfect do I want my narrative to appear? How do I have the room to see my errors and my flaws so I can work on them and improve myself? Don’t get me wrong, there are indeed cases where we need this, especially in urgent situations.
Let’s keep going green, embrace nature, show kindness to one another, be conscious to deliberately use less of Artifical Intelligence, but more of our brains to do tasks, and also accept the concept of technological advancement to complement our effort together.
Together, we can make the world a better place, and yse technological advancement to keep us safe.
