AFCON 2023: Yamoussoukro Stadium is Ready for the Event

One of the top five Ivorian towns getting ready to host the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins in January 2024, is Yamoussoukro, the administrative capital.

The new stadium, which has 20,000 seats, was designed by SCAU architecture.

The stadium in Yamoussoukro is prepared, as stated by its authorities.

“The stadium has hosted 37 matches, the turf has responded favourably to the stress, which means there are no problems, and we’re ready.”

Charles Konan Banny Stadium’s director of stadiums, Abdoul Aziz Sidibe, stated, “The players, in fact all the actors, will be in the best possible conditions to put on a quality show and Yamoussoukro is ready.”

There will be jumping and throwing zones throughout the playground, as well as an athletic track with a synthetic surface.

For the event, the city’s landmarks—including its famous basilica—are being restored.
