Coco Gauff Won The French Open For The First Time By Defeating Top-ranked Aryna Sabalen

In a highly anticipated match at the just concluded French Open final, Coco Gauff defeated Aryna Sabalenka in three sets (6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4) to claim her first ever French Open title and second Grand Slam singles title.

The tournament, played in challenging and windy conditions, was a hard-fought battle with momentum swings. Sabalenka initially took the first set in a tiebreak, but Gauff demonstrated remarkable resilience, particularly in handling the conditions. Sabalenka struggled with unforced errors throughout the match, accumulating 70 compared to Gauff’s 30.

Gauff rallied strongly in the second and third sets, showcasing her defensive skills and all-court play. The victory marks a significant achievement for Gauff, who also came from a set down to beat Sabalenka in the 2023 US Open final.

Following the match, Sabalenka expressed her frustration with her performance, describing it as “the worst final I have ever played” and attributing Gauff’s win more to her own mistakes than Gauff’s “incredible” play, comments which Gauff later politely refuted.
