Court Sentences Police to Death for Murder of Pregnant Lawyer
The Lagos High Court, located at Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island, issued a verdict on Monday, sentencing the suspended Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi, to death by hanging for the murder of Lagos-based lawyer, Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem.
During the trial, Justice Ibironke Harrison found Vandi guilty of the crime, stating that the prosecution successfully proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt. The judge also determined that the victim was shot at close range.
The convicted ASP was held accountable for the death of Mrs. Raheem, who was pregnant at the time of the incident. The court’s decision serves as a warning to others that taking another person’s life is a serious offence and will not be tolerated. More details on the case are yet to be disclosed.
