Ex-boyfriend Who Set Ugandan Athlete On Fire Dies

The ex-boyfriend of  Rebecca Cheptegei, the Olympic marathon medalist reportedly died in hospital on Monday night, a week after he was accused of dousing the athlete with petrol and setting her ablaze.

Dickson Ndiema was confirmed to have died by the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital overnight after suffering more than 30% burns in the attack. The police named Ndiema as the main suspect in the murder. He was to be arraigned in court once out of hospital.

Rebecca Cheptegei is due to be buried on Saturday in her hometown in Uganda, with a full military funeral attended by dignitaries from her home country and Kenya, where she trained and died.
