Government Announces Grant for Vulnerable Pensioners in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has set up a special grant of N25,000 each for vulnerable pensioners under the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme.

This was announced by Dr Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, during a meeting with the Nigerian Labour Congress.

In order to include vulnerable elderly in the national social register, the grant—which is a component of the governments renewed hope agenda—must be approved.

Edu appealed to the NLC to help collate data of potential beneficiaries so that they can start receiving the grant from November. The NLC leadership was commended for being a team player in moving Nigeria forward.
