Gunmen Kill Retired Policeman and Wife in Imo

Around 8 o’clock in the evening, three assailants opened fire on Sampson Owobo and his wife, in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

The couple, who operate a point-of-sale company and sell loaves of bread, were attempting to get rid of the money bag. The armed thieves attempted to carry the bag but were unsuccessful. They were armed with pump-action rifles.

The gunmen then shot the couple on their foreheads, near their eyes, and on their left sides, near her chest. The wife was bleeding heavily, and the husband passed away instantly. They were rushed to the hospital.

At the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri, the husband—who also happened to be a former assistant superintendent of police—was pronounced dead. Police spokesman Henry Okoye acknowledged that the couple had been killed and added that the authorities were looking for the culprits who had eluded capture.

The police have launched an inquiry into the couple’s killings with the goal of catching the eluding offenders because the couple’s murder was strongly condemned.
