Hunger Has Killed at least 500 Children in War-torn Sudan

Since the battle began on April 15 in Sudan, at least 498 children and hundreds more have perished from famine, according to the non-profit organisation Save the Children.

As a result of the fighting, Save the Children had to halt providing care for 31,000 malnourished children, which might make the situation worse.

Over four million people have been displaced by the army and Rapid Support Forces (FSR) war, which has killed about 5,000 people since April 15. While the international community struggles to pay for relief for displaced people, refugees, the injured, and other sexual assault victims, international justice is preoccupied with “war crimes.”

Only 27% of the financing needed by humanitarian organisations has been provided. A quarter of the estimated 48 million Sudanese population lives in the western region of Darfur and Khartoum, where the violence is still prevalent.

The majority of the fighting is taking place in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, where it has resulted in “60 dead, 250 injured, and 50,000 displaced” since August 11.

The UN claims that on Monday, one of its local commanders was “murdered” there. After at least 27 Darfur communities were set on fire by the RSF and its friends in the Arab militias, the battle has now spread to El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
