Illegal Structures Must Go Down – Wike Threatens Demolition

Regardless of who owns the land, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has threatened to demolish houses that were built unlawfully within the city.

Along with 44 other newly appointed Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he took the oath of office.

Wike warned that all homes constructed on green spaces or to obstruct the Abuja Masterplan will be removed, regardless of who owns them.

He asked everyone who had constructed in prohibited areas to take down their structures and restore the green spaces.

Wike emphasised that his duty was to restore the FCT to its prior condition, not to engage in a witch hunt.
