Lagos State Govt Reopens Mile 12 International Market

The Mile 12 International Market in Lagos State has been ordered to reopen by the government, following its closure on Friday. Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards negligence in matters of environmental, public health, and safety.

He urged traders to adhere to acceptable standards and prioritize hygiene for the sake of their own health and the well-being of the public. Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) representative, reiterated the Authority’s dedication to environmental sustainability and public safety.

He explained that the temporary closure was necessary to address environmental concerns and create a safer trading environment.

The head of LAWMA also encouraged traders to demonstrate their commitment to environmental laws in order to establish a cleaner and healthier environment for both traders and customers.
