Palliative: Kaigama Advocates for Vulnerable Nigerians

In order to assist the underprivileged and vulnerable, Catholic Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama has called on the federal government to give states N5 billion in palliative funds.

In contrast to only receiving handouts and palliative care, he underlined the significance of government empowerment and support for families to engage in profitable business endeavours. Families should be patriotic and uphold the law, Kaigama advised, as youth are frequently the ones who commit crimes in society.

He believed that the N5 billion palliative that the President had given to the Federal Government and each state to lessen the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies, as well as the N25,000 monthly grant that would be given to 15 million economically disadvantaged Nigerian families between October and December of 2023, would actually help these people.

Kaigama highlighted that strong, stable, dynamic, and morally pure families are the foundation of any community, and that a healthy family is essential to society’s ability to function.

In addition, he attacked modern ideologies like minimalism, relativism, and hedonism for their implications for marriage and family life as well as the situation of modern society. He underlined that sociologists view the family, which is the product of marriage, as the main socialisation agent and the basic social unit around which society is constructed.
