By Taiwo Akinkunmi, Nigerian Flag Designer, Dies at 87
Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the designer of the Nigerian flag, died at the age of 87.
On Wednesday, his son, Akinkunmi Akinwumi Samuel, confirmed his father’s death on his Facebook page.
“Life is indeed transient; I can say boldly that you live a life with a landmark,” he wrote. My father, continue to rest! Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi (O.F.R) has passed away.”
When his design was chosen as the Nigerian flag, the government rewarded him 100 pounds.
President Goodluck Jonathan also bestowed the Order of the Federal Republic onto him.
