The Path to African Liberation: Kwame Ture’s Vision of History, Organization, and Unity
Question: What kind of advice did you give?
Kwame Ture:
The primary advice I gave was that we must heighten our awareness of our duties as human beings, especially as Africans. To do this, we need a deep and accurate understanding of our history—both in this country and globally. It is imperative that we are the ones to document and interpret our history. Even the most sympathetic individuals outside our race cannot fully comprehend the historical challenges we face.
Knowing our history is crucial as it serves as a blueprint, outlining the path we must follow. Equally important is the need for organization. At present, we are fragmented and lack unity, which greatly hinders us. Thus, it is essential to establish and sustain our own organizations—entities that we control, direct, manage, fund, and imbue with our ideological vision.
As an Africanist, I firmly believe that no African, regardless of where they are in the world, can achieve true freedom until Africa as a whole is liberated and unified under socialism. This remains the ultimate aim and the guiding principle of our movement.
