Tinubu appoints Ola Olukoyede as New EFCC Boss

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has chosen Ola Olukoyede as the new Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), taking over from Abdulrasheed Bawa, who is currently suspended.

Olukoyede, a seasoned lawyer with over 22 years of experience, will serve in this role for a renewable term of four years, pending Senate confirmation. Previously, he held the positions of Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman and Secretary to the Commission.

Additionally, Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda, a public administrator with extensive expertise in public finance management, has been appointed for a renewable term of five years. Tinubu has urged the new leadership of the Commission to prove their worth and live up to the trust placed in them. Olukoyede’s appointment comes after the resignation of Bawa, who was suspended.
