Tinubu Criticizes Stereotyping of Nigerians as Cybercriminals

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has criticized the “blanket stereotyping” of Nigerians as cybercriminals, arguing that this misrepresentation distorts the true image of the West African nation.

During a private tour in France, Tinubu highlighted the lack of statistical evidence supporting the association of internet crimes with the entire Nigerian populace.

He emphasized that everyday Nigerians are hardworking, honest citizens who contribute to global fields like artificial intelligence and medicine.

The country is currently ranked 16th among countries most affected by cybercrime, with cybercrime costing the country $500 million annually.
