Traditional Ruler Killed, Others Kidnapped in Kwara State

Gunmen killed Oba Segun Aremu-Cole, the traditional ruler of Koro town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, and kidnapped his wife and two others.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed the attack, calling it shocking and urging security agencies not to spare resources to track down the perpetrators.

He offered condolences to the people of Koro and vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. On January 29, 2024, gunmen killed two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti and Elesun of Esun Ekiti, while returning from a meeting.

President Bola Tinubu condemned the killings and directed the immediate rescue of pupils and teachers kidnapped around the Eporo-Ekiti area of the state.
