11 Workers Killed in Tanzanian Sugar Factory Blast

A sugar factory blast in Tanzania has claimed the lives of 11 workers, including three foreign nationals. The explosion was triggered by an electrical malfunction that led to a steam pipe bursting while a technical team was getting ready for production.

The plant, belonging to Mtibwa Sugar, is a key sugar producer in Tanzania, churning out a minimum of 70,000 metric tons of sugar every year.

Transpiring on May 23, the incident also left two workers injured. Situated in the Morogoro region, the factory stands as one of the leading sugar manufacturing facilities in the country.
