Zuma to ‘Fight for Rights’ After South Africa Election Disqualification
South Africa’s ex-president Jacob Zuma shared in a video on social media by his political party that he will battle for his rights.
The constitutional court ruled Zuma ineligible to participate in the May 29 election for parliament due to his 15-month contempt of court sentence in 2021.
The constitution bars individuals with a prison term of 12 months or more from holding a parliamentary position.
Zuma affirmed in the video his determination to advocate for his rights until the nation recognizes that freedom should be universal, not selective for some and oppressive for others.
