African Women Are The Prides Of Africa
Once upon a time, Africa was the only continent where women were leading in all spheres. Once upon a time, Africa was the only continent where Women were warriors, not just leading battalions but also dominant. Once upon a time, Africa was the only continent where women were in a position of power, managing the economy of their empire. Once upon a time, only in the continent of Africa, would you find women as Kings.
Since Africa lost its Pride, Africa lost its path. The prides of Africa are African women, they are the light to our paths, we are the strength that drives their course.
The 21st century African man thinks he’s something without the woman, but history made us realize that African men were absolutely nothing without African women. The African woman is the power house of Africa, the man is just a mere symbol of strength. Without the light we can not experience the strength. Hence, we own it a duty as African men to respect and honour our women, and help them discover who they truly are not just by themselves but FOR THEMSELVES.
Here is a list to reference some of African Women Kings, and Queens who led their respective empire. Worthy of note, one key character peculiar to most African women kings was: they were all warriors and they fought back against Slavery, and colonialism of different sorts.
10 MOST COURAGEOUS AFRICAN WOMEN KINGS
1. Queen of Sheba from the kingdom of Aksum, the present day Ethiopia.
2. Queen Nzinga Mbande of Angola.
3. Cleopatra of Kemet, present day Egypt.
4. General Nanisca of Agoojia, from Dahomey kingdom, present day Benin republic. The Agoojia women warriors are referred to by the European as the Amazon women warriors.
5. King Ahebi Ubagbe of Enugu.
6. Queen Amina of Zaria in present day Northern Nigeria.
7. Queen Amanirenas of the then kingdom of Kush, present day Sudan.
8. Queen Nanny from Ghana whom after been taking away as slave to Jamaica as a teen, led the Jamaican maroon warriors against the British army, and defeated them despite their sophisticated weaponry.
9. Queen Yaa Asantewaa of the Ashanti kingdom, modern day Ghana and many more.
10. Queen Moremi Ajasoro, from the Yoruba Kingdom of Ife, now Ile-Ife in present day Nigeria, was one of Africa’s finest Queen, who sacrificed both her throne, and her only child in other for her to liberate her people from their enslavers.
No matter the revolution we preach, we can not successfully liberate Africa with the exemption of our women leading in that narrative. We must not only include our women, we must equip them with basic resources they need for their protection, fortify them with knowledge of who they truly are as THE TRUE AFRICAN QUEENS.
