Budapest 2023: Amusan Breezes into the Hurdles Semifinals

After serving a temporary suspension for skipping three tests, Tobi Amusan, the world champion and record holder in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, returned to the track.

with her first competition since July 17, she defeated Megan Tapper of Jamaica to win with a timing of 12.48 seconds.

Amusan’s time in the heats was third quickest, after Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas and Kendra Harrison. On July 17, she competed in her final race in the Silesia Diamond League in Poland.

On Wednesday, she will return to the track for the semifinals in an effort to defend her 2022 victory. The top two finishers from each race and the next two fastest times progress to Thursday’s championship.
