Contractor Confesses to Receiving N2.17 Billion from Office of NSA Without Project Execution During Ex-President Buhari’s Tenure

Olugbenga Obadina, a contractor, faces charges from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly receiving payments without a contract from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) on November 28, 2015, during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

Obadina informed Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja that the payments to his company, Almond Projects Limited, were not intended for installing power plants in Yobe State or any power project in the state.

Both the contractor and his company, Almond Projects Limited, are accused of eight charges involving conspiracy, official corruption, and money laundering totaling N2,17,190,000 (Two Billion, Seventeen Million, One Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira).

The prosecution highlighted that the defendant’s statement lacked specific details about the location in Yobe State for the project. The trial is set to continue on May 30 and 31, 2024.
