Hugo Broos: My Team Struggled to Accept the Defeat to Nigeria

Broos emphasized how difficult it was for his squad to accept the loss.

The team had a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes but missed a chance to win in the 90th minute when Khuliso Mudau missed a shot over the bar.

Nigeria’s coach, Jose Peseiro, praised his team and the Nigerian people for “deserving” to be in the final.

Nigeria’s goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali saved two penalties to send his side through the shootout, and Kechi Iheanacho scored the winning penalty for the Super Eagles.William Troost-Ekong gave the Super Eagles a 67th-minute lead, but Teboho Mokoena leveled the game with a penalty in the 90th minute.
