Insights from Congolese on Tshisekedi’s Fresh Cabinet Selection

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has announced a new government after five months of anticipation.

Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka’s team was revealed on national television amid a severe security crisis in the country’s eastern region, particularly North Kivu province.

Residents of North Kivu are eager for an end to the war and the return of displaced individuals. Civil society is looking for tangible results from the government, irrespective of their makeup or political ties.

Under President Félix Tshisekedi’s administration, a focus has been placed on job creation, economic diversification, and increasing purchasing power. This announcement follows an attempted coup ten days prior and in the wake of the national currency depreciation.
