ISWAP Ambush Repulsed, 1 Dead and 5 Injured

On KARETO Road in the Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, a commuter car was ambushed by a roadside improvised explosive device.

The Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) is thought to have planted the alleged IED in front of troops, followed by a pistol attack.

The commuter van was damaged, one passenger was killed, and five others suffered injuries of varied seriousness.

Before transporting the body and injured to Gubio Town, 5 Brigade Operation Hadin Kai soldiers conducted fighting clearance patrols to the spot and cleared the area.

Before recovering the ambush victims, forces engaged the terrorists hiding behind cover in gunfire.

As the terrorist fled the site on one xGT and numerous motorcycles, the number of casualties is unknown.
