It Is Called Mosi oa Tunya & Not Victoria Falls
This is the Mosi oa Tunya, meaning “the smoke that thunders,” located in Zambia, named also by Zambians after the famous Mosi oa Tunya National Park.
The Mosi oa Tunya was given the name Victoria Falls by Scottish missionary David Livingstone, naming it after queen Victoria of great Britain.
Contrary to the popular story, David Livingstone did not discover what he called Victoria falls. Mosi oa Tunya has always been there, owned to the indigenous people of Zambia. David Livingstone only gave it a name as Victoria falls.
