Nigeria Gov Prohibit Students Under 18 From Writing SSCE

The Nigeria Federal Government has prohibited students under 18 from participating in WAEC, and NECO, i.e. the West African Examinations Council, and National Examinations Council exams.

Professor Tahir Mamman, the current Minister of Education, disclosed this when he was featured on the ‘Sunday Politics’ program on Channels Television.

Prof. Tahir Mamman explained that the federal government has directed WAEC, which conducts the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, and NECO, which oversees the Senior School Certificate Examination to enforce the 18-year age requirement for candidates wishing to take these exams.

This is what we get when Nigerians prefer Rulers with no present or futuristic pro-people’s ideas in power. While other countries are producing Doctors, Engineers, Pilots, Professors less than 20 years of age, Nigeria government does not want students less than 18 years to write WAEC and NECO even if they have the capacity.

For those celebrating the student loans, this is what you have failed to see coming, as you choose to celebrate Failure. Is this a coincidence to you? Student loans today, a systematic reduction of students that will access it tomorrow, by putting a peg on the age of those required to write an exam that should certify them to enroll in higher institutions.

How can a Government show so much anti-growth to its YOUTHS, how can a government deploy policies to stall every form of growth of its citizenry this much? So are you telling Nigerians that if they’ve got children that are less than 18, and so brilliant enough to pass WAEC & Jamb, these children can’t move up the Educational ladder on till they clock 18? What then happens to their cognitive if they were 15 at the time they have the mental capacity to have written the exams and qualified? The government of Nigeria seems to be indeed at war with the so-called tomorrow’s leaders of Nigeria.
