Reps Call Betta Edu to Address Alleged Fraud in FG Cash Transfer

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has been called before the Nigerian House of Representatives to address the current state of the federal government’s conditional cash transfer programme, which serves 15 million households.

The House raised concerns about the program’s management, pointing to purported fraudulent activities and a lack of openness.

The legislators demand information from Edu regarding the disbursement of funds and data collection. The October-launched programme intends to give 15 million recipient households monthly cash transfers totaling N25,000 for a period of three months.

Edu has not yet replied to the House’s summons, but in the past, he has defended the programme, saying that it is carried out in an accountable and transparent manner.
