Rwanda Invites all Africans with Visa-free Travel

Rwanda, the most recent country in Africa to do so, has declared that Africans will be able to enter the country without a visa.

Speaking about Africa’s potential as a single travel destination, President Paul Kagame said that because of the continent’s expanding middle class, Africans will be the travel industry’s future.

After Gambia, Benin, and Seychelles, Rwanda will be the fourth African nation to lift travel restrictions for its citizens. William Ruto, the president of Kenya, also declared that by December 31, all Africans would be able to travel without a visa.

In an attempt to compete with the European Union, the African Union introduced the African passport in 2016, although only diplomats and AU officials have been able to obtain the travel document.

The $3.4 trillion African Continental Free Trade Area seeks to advance economic growth by giving the 1.3 billion people living on the continent access to a single, integrated market.
