Segun Otulana’s Remarkable Rise To Billion-Dollar Tech Guru

Segun Otulana, a Nigerian-American businessman who relocated to the U.S. during his teenage years, has forged a distinctive path in the tech industry. Coming from modest roots in Nigeria, where his parents sustained the family through rental properties and gas stations, Otulana’s background has deeply influenced his approach to success.
Otulana’s ascent in tech highlights his remarkable accomplishments and foresight. As an electrical engineering and management information systems graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), he utilized his knowledge to create a billion-dollar enterprise. In 2021, he sold his mental health software company, Therapy Brands, to KKR for an impressive $1.2 billion.
His business journey began in 2004 with Zertis, a foundational project that paved the way for his future ventures. In 2013, he launched TheraNest, a mental health software platform inspired by his own therapeutic experiences, designed to help therapists improve their efficiency.
Currently, Segun Otulana continues to shape the tech landscape as the leader of Harmony Venture Labs (HVL), fostering new enterprises and promoting growth within the technology sector.
