Senator Sani Urges EU, ECOWAS: Lift Sanctions on Niger Now!

Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has called for the lifting of sanctions imposed on Niger Republic by the European Union and ECOWAS.

The sanctions were imposed after military officers ousted President Mohamed Bazoum in July 2023.

Sani, who served in the 8th Senate, believes the sanctions are causing more hardship and escalating terrorist attacks in Nigeria’s bordering states.

He believes the sanctions are affecting the country’s capacity to fight terrorism and must be lifted for the collective security of the West African region.
