Tinubu Renames Conference Centre After Himself

President Bola Tinubu’s two years in office have been marked by a striking pattern: he’s already named or renamed at least five significant public entities after himself. We’ve seen the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC), Bola Tinubu Polytechnic, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way—all in Abuja. And just yesterday, the International Conference Centre became the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre.

Frankly, it wouldn’t be shocking if the APC itself soon becomes the “Bola Tinubu Progressives Congress (BTPC).” If this continues, he’ll have plastered his name on at least 20 public facilities by the end of a second term!

But here’s the crucial point: this obsession with self-immortalization is fragile. It will only endure if his service proves impactful. Should his remaining two or six years be as disappointing as the first two, his name will be quickly forgotten. And let’s be real, any successor could erase his name from these institutions in a matter of weeks. It’s only a matter of time.
