Two-Storey Building Collapse Traps Residents in Lagos Island

A two-story building collapsed in the Isale Eko area of Lagos State, trapping numerous residents after a fire at parts of Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island.

The Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) verified the incident, mentioning that 14 other structures were significantly affected. In April, SaharaReporters documented a fire outbreak at the market impacting at least four buildings.

Three bodies, including that of an 11-year-old girl, were retrieved from the debris of a collapsed mosque in the Mushin area of Lagos State. Lagos State Police Command confirmed the death of the girl, with injured individuals receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

The Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the recovery of three bodies from the wreckage and the complete destruction of the affected buildings.
