Attack on Mosque Leaves 23 Injured in Northern Nigeria
At least 24 worshippers, including four children, sustained injuries in a mosque assault in northern Nigeria’s Kano state. The 38-year-old perpetrator, a local resident, confessed to targeting the mosque in Gadan village due to a longstanding family feud.
The attack triggered fear in Kano, a region that has witnessed religiously motivated disturbances previously. Initial forensic examinations indicated a gasoline blast, yet a comprehensive inquiry is underway. Law enforcement sealed off the area as the wounded were swiftly transported to a hospital in Abuja.
According to The Daily Trust newspaper, worshippers were trapped inside the mosque, hindering their escape from the blast. The assailant had previously targeted individuals in the vicinity due to the same familial conflict.
