Emefiele Still in Kuje Prison After Being Granted Bail

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is still in Kuje Prison in Abuja, seven days after being granted bail.

Justice Hamza Muazu granted him bail in the sum of N300 million on November 22, but he has not been able to perfect the bail conditions imposed by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

Emefiele was ordered to produce two sureties with landed properties in the Maitama District of the Federal Capital Territory.

At the commencement of trial, armed security personnel brought Emefiele to court. Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said Emefiele has not perfected his bail conditions, and his lawyer, Mathew Burkaa, said his team is making efforts to perfect the bail conditions.
