Thousands Of Botswana Trooped Out To Celebrates First-ever Olympics gold

On Tuesday, 13th of August 2024, thousands of people in Botswana packed into the country’s national stadium to welcome star sprinter Letsile Tebogo and their Olympics team.

Letsile Tebogo, 21, became Botswana’s first-ever Olympic gold medal winner on 8 August after he left behind USA’s Kenny Bednarek and Noah Lyles in the men’s 200m race at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Tebogo won gold in the men’s 200-meter race — the first African to win in the category and Botswana’s first-ever gold medal at the Olympics. The country also won silver in the men’s 4×400 relay.
