More than 170 ‘Repentant’ Boko Haram Fighters Surrender to Multi-National Joint Task Force Troops
At least 176 Boko Haram fighters have surrendered to troops of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in the Lake Chad basin, following an intensive military onslaught on their hideouts.
The operation, which included Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon, involved the capture of 57 terrorists in separate raids. Military hardware, including sophisticated weapons and logistics, was recovered from the terrorists. The air component of the operation from Chadian, Nigerian, and Cameroonian Airforce fighters neutralized several terrorists in their hideouts.
The success of the operation was largely due to the support of Defence chiefs from the Lake Chad countries. MNJTF spokesperson Col Abubakar Abdullahi thanked the armed forces of the affected countries for their cooperation and intelligence sharing.
